Monte Jean Grimes
September 15, 1923 – July 23, 2010

Monte Jean Grimes passed away July 23, 2010. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery on Interstate-35 and Sun Valley Drive.

Monte Grimes was born on September 15, 1923, in Ft. Worth to Herbert and Bertha Wilcoxon. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1940 and attended 4-C Business College in Dallas. On December 11, 1942, she married childhood friend Glenn Grimes in Lubbock, Texas, following his graduation from flight school. They had a loving marriage of 62 years until his death in 2004.

Being the wife of an Air Force officer, the family moved many times and finally settled in Waco in 1958. She spent her professional life as a secretary working for the Texas Parks and Wildlife, Rocketdyne, and the Veteran’s Administration Regional Office. During her retirement, she and Glenn lived on a golf course and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Together, they reared two children and were the proud grandparents of one grandson.

Monte was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; and two sisters, Betty Piazza and Wanda Schmitz.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane McCutchen and her husband, Dan, of Seattle; son Rick Grimes of Kingsville; and grandson, Bo Hahn, of Pearland.

The family would like to thank all of the individuals who helped Monte live a wonderful life in her elder years. A special thanks is given to Wanda Robison of Waco, Gloria Salazar, Barry and Gabriela Hernandez of Corpus. The family would also like to thank all of our personal friends who have been supportive of Monte and the family during the last year.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial
Guestbook” at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
