Shirley Jean Abel
March 6, 1928 - July 24, 2010
Shirley Jean Abel of Waco passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at residence. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.
Shirley was born March 6, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio to Tom and Jean Mabray. Shirley has been a lifelong Christian and a member of Central Christian Church in Waco.
Shirley was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed a successful career in real estate with her husband, Bob, in West University Place, Texas. Shirley and Bob retired to Waco in 1997. She was an active member of the Big Band Dance Club and was also involved in the organization of several Waco High School reunions.
She was preceded in death by her father Tom C. Mabray, mother Jean Mabray nee Riley. She is survived by husband Robert D.(Bob) Abel; daughter, Terry Lynn Abel of Houston; son, Thomas Robert Abel and wife Laura of Pflugerville, TX; grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Abel and Hunter Riley Abel; brothers, Tom G. Mabray of Houston, Don R. Mabray and wife Barbara of Sun City, TX and Gary A. Mabray of Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews.
